SUCH WONDER – INTRODUCTION

Psalm 139.14:
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully
made,
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well. (ESV)

A few years ago I had the opportunity during a stay in the hospital to learn from the nursing staff that each of us has valves in the veins of our arms and legs. They are designed to allow blood to flow through them during a heart contraction, and then the valve closes during the relaxation period between heart beats. The valves prevent blood from flowing backwards away from the heart because of the pull of gravity.

All of these valves face in the same direction allowing blood to flow to the heart. If some of the valves faced in the opposite direction, then blood would be trapped between the opposing valves. This song is a celebration of God’s work of design in our bodies regarding these “points of passage”.
