PARADISE, PART 4, THE MAN FROM GADARA

“Paradise”, words and music by Paul Hayden

Luke 8.35:
Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. (ESV)

I would like to briefly review the profound impact Jesus had on this man. I have a song that I am planning to post in about three weeks entitled, “Liberty From Legion”, and I will go into this event further at that time. There are a number of details contained in all three synoptic Gospel accounts which give us a full picture of this healing.

But I would like to focus on this one thing today: This tormented man, who was driven into madness by demons, and who suffered unknowable pain and insanity, was put into his right mind by Jesus. And he experienced instantly a peacefulness and calm that was the miraculous action of Jesus alone. The quietude and clear mindedness this man received from Jesus is for me an earthly picture of the peace and good order and clear thinking we will experience in heaven.
