I’ve written more blog postings about the topic of the forerunner of Christ in the person of John the Baptist, and his mission, than any other topic, other than Jesus Himself.
This song is written in Open D tuning for the guitars, and I’ve even tuned my Upright Bass in Open D tuning. This works well with the Mountain Dulcimer played in certain spots in the song. This dulcimer has double strings on all three strings and is tuned in D. It is strung up backwards to the traditional dulcimer setup, so that I can play it in the style of a guitar. A dulcimer is typically tuned in fifths and this makes for a bold, sharp sounding instrument.
Below is a photograph of my dulcimer.
