In April of 2018 when I began this blogsite, I was in the early stage of training my singing voice by the method and principles set forth in Dr. James C. McKinney’s extraordinary book on singing method entitled, “The Diagnosis & Correction of Vocal Faults”. A book title like that it not particularly inviting and was written for classroom instruction, but the book was highly recommended by a close friend who knew Dr. McKinney very well.
And even though the idea of vocal “faults” might seem a little negative, this book nonetheless teaches a very ideal concept and method of singing biomechanics. But the development thereof takes a lot of time and intensity. It’s not something like, “Sing Like A Rock Star In 21 Days”. And even though I knew I had not been training under Dr. McKinney’s method long enough to truly be ready to record my songs, I went forward anyway, because I just wanted to get started and not want to wait any longer.
I’ve now been training for three and a half years in accord with Dr. McKinney’s teaching method, and I plan to re-record the vocal tracks on my songs. It’s now or never. So I’m going to take down all previously posted recordings on the “Songs” page of the website and start over. I’ll add the songs back one by one, when each song is completed. When this is all done, there will be no looking back. I plan to start working on new compositions thereafter and see what happens. The first re-worked song gets posted today.
I’ve also taught myself how to play various percussion instruments and will add these type of tracks to add a little punch and definition to the songs.
Here is a photo of the front cover of Dr. McKinney’s book. I highly recommend it.
