John 9.32-33: Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind. (33) If this man were not from God, he could do nothing. (ESV)
It is important to emphasize again that no prophet, no apostle, nor anyone else in the Bible record, other than Jesus, ever opened the eyes of a blind person and made that person to see. Only Jesus did this. And the former blind man who spoke the words in the verses above made this very point, as he spoke to the religious authorities. And this drives home how blindness was a condition that left the person virtually without hope and a future. Such a person would be completely dependent upon other people to take care of him or her, or become a beggar like Blind Bartimaeus.
The angel Gabriel spoke to the virgin Mary, when telling her that she would miraculously give birth to God’s Son Jesus, the following words from Luke 1.37: “For nothing will be impossible with God.” (ESV)
I look around and see seemingly impossible problems and blindness. There’s an old Andre’ Crouch song from about fifty years ago that said: “Jesus is the answer, for the world today. Above Him there’s no other. Jesus is the Way.” Jesus was the only answer for the blind man who Jesus healed in the ninth chapter of the Gospel of John, and the only answer for Blind Bartimaeus. So, too, Jesus is our only answer.
Do you feel, as I do, that a wrecking ball is being swung at everything you value and hold in the highest regard? Only Jesus will be the solution to this. For anything and everything that appears impossible, it is possible for Jesus. Let us all ask Him to intervene in our individual and collective problems.
In my opinion, the fact that global COVID-19 vaccinations have been underway this year, less than a year from the identification of the crisis, is a demonstration of God working in the lives of scientists and leaders, guiding them in the tracks of right paths to solutions to this pandemic. This was deemed impossible by many influential public leaders and personalities. But with Jesus at work, it was not impossible. Millions of people have been praying and I believe these prayers have been, and continue to be answered.
