THE SPOKEN WORD – 2020 VERSION

“THE SPOKEN WORD”, WORDS AND MUSIC BY PAUL HAYDEN

MARK 4.39: And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace!Be Still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. (ESV)

In the account of Jesus and His disciples crossing the Sea of Galilee on a trip to the country of the Gerasenes recorded in Mark 4.35-41, a bad storm arose and the wind and the sea filled up their boat with water to the point of sinking.

Jesus spoke and commanded the storm to be still, as recorded in the verse above, and it became calm. This was a demonstration to the disciples that Jesus is God.

Psalm 89. 8-9 says, “Oh LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you? (9) You rule the raging of the sea, when its waves rise, you still them.” (ESV)
